ISLAMABAD: The toll from the temblor that hit Pakistan and Afghanistan a day earlier mounted to over 300 on Tuesday.
Officials said 248 people were confirmed dead in Pakistan, where most of the fatalities — 232 — were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and tribal areas bordering Afghanistan. Nine people were reported dead in Gilgit-Baltistan, five in Punjab and two in PoK. At least 1,665 were injured across the country.
Officials feared the toll could rise as reports of damages were trickling in from remote areas.
